snotstorm!

I just bought this coat in black for my trip to Portland and it served me well - it's cotton and has a vest/liner thing for added warmth. It is from the Gap though.... http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=6951&pid=413354

I totally sympathize with your dilemma. I have been vegan for 11 months and still have lot's of stuff from my pregan days that make me feel uncomfortable when I wear them. The way I feel, is as I buy new things they will all be totally vegan, but I don't want to dishonor the animal that died for my nonvegan items. I too have given some of my stuff away to charity. But I still have several pairs of leather boots, though my new running shoes are completely vegan. Anyway, it is always nice to read about others going through similar experiences and feelings.

i so relate! i've got a pregan wool pea coat that i still (hesitantly) wear. have you thought of finding a good tailor and getting one made? then you can choose yer own fabric and have a poifect winter coat!

i'm going to attempt making one for me as soon as i gather my nerve (i'm a decent-enough sewer, but a coat scares me). :)

thanks for chiming in, everyone!

ellie--thanks for the link. are those bits of trim vinyl/pleather? i thought i read somewhere that they were leather, but maybe not! i wonder if it would be warm enough to last me through the coldest part of winter... hmmm, have to check that out!

gen--i saw some links to some cool patterns somewhere... i'll try to find them and email them to you. :)

I think this is cute, if pricey: http://store.hempest.com/catalog/product_info.php?pid=694

Not everything at that site is vegan, but this coat is. I tend to not dress up, but if I felt the need for a dressier coat I might go for that one.

thanks deb! that IS a cutie! i'm just trying to figure out how long it is... i'm looking for a 3/4 length or so. this isn't the style i had in mind, but i do like it. :)

I just got a Vegan Coat Project. Right now, client and I are researching Vegan Material that'll keep her warm and is of 100% Vegan Material. Anyone know of a warm Vegan material??

I stumbled upon your page as I was experiencing the same vegan coat dilemma. I found this one, but I'm wondering if it's too lightweight. http://www.kohls.com/products/product_page_vanilla3.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=421086485&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=259503459&bmUID=1173204238468

I found a site that has listings of vegan friendly pea coats.

Ok, this was posted years ago, so probably irrelevant by now, but how about this one: http://www.faeriesdance.com/colonel-coat-p-422.html
